As a canadian resident I have watched in horror the unexplaned gun death in the US. The death of children, teachers police, first responders and fellow citizens. My question is under the legal right to own a gun does it give a false sense of security and how many of those who own a gun have the wepon used to harm or injure them in a violent manner such as robbery karen

I own a gun, and have fought in wars. I have never been robbed. Coincidence? Maybe? Most likely, criminals like easy targets, go figure, their life of crime is due to illegal activity. Having misguided youth killing kids in a gun free zone should awake people to the necessity of trained and responsibilities people require to control weapons with reach, like the gun.

There are several problems Karen. Years ago I had been in Law Enforcement & we had seen the problem then. The bad guys new right from wrong but they weren't worried, even if they got caught they wouldn't have to do much time. First of all you need to get ahold of your Gov. rep. & tell them you want the bad guys to pay 3 times the sentence they do now for what ever their crime was. You may not agree with me but for murder the laws need to be changed. We need to be more inline with some of the other countries when dealing with murder. In a clear cut case it should be an automatic Death sentence, Stop this insane 13 to 15 years on death row. For murder you automatically are given a in kind sentence. If you shot someone you are shot, Some people will say this will not work.
Guaranteed, they will not do it again like they do now when they get out.
#2 Anyone that thinks gun free zones is the answer is wrong. The only guns in there will be brought in by the bad guys. This has been proven. People with concealed weapon permits have
      stopped shooters.

My sister is in an abusive relationship with this guy for almost 2 years, just last night he beat her so hard that she couldn't breathe, and my mom had to drive her to the nearest hospital. We don't know his legal name, and I know for sure he's involved in multiple robberies and distribute drugs. My sister is afraid to leave him, and I am scared for my family. I wish I had the money to move my mom and siblings out of there, but I'm afraid he'll track her down because he has done that before. We are at a lost and don't know how to get her out of this bad situation. Any advice at all is greatly appreciate. Thank you so much in advance.

If this man is involved in multiple robberies and dealing drugs, you need to get in touch with the police and inform them. They will arrest him and he will be sent to prison. If your sister was beaten badly enough to go to the hospital the police should have been informed at that time. This man will not stop at just beatings. Your sisters life is in danger, she needs to leave now. You need to get her out of there and call the police now before her do not have a sister anymore.
